How bad is talc in makeup? ?

The other day I bought some mineral makeup from Mary Kay, but I was disappointed when I read the ingredients and the first one was talc! I have paid less money for a better talc free product so this is irritating. I thought The quality would be better for Mary Kay stuff. Then I started thinking, isn't talc a mineral and how bad is it for my skin? How bad is talc in makeup? ?
Initially people were lead to believe that talc was carcinogenic (I'm not sure if that was actually proven though) so some companies would say that their makeup is talc free so that people feel safer using it. Another problem with talc is it's the culprit behind that ghostly look to your makeup when you take a picture (you know how sometimes a foundation can look perfectly fine in person, but if you take a picture, it looks waaaay too light?). Talc free is definitely the way to go. Good luck! How bad is talc in makeup? ?
Talc in cosmetics is (hydrous) magnesium silicate and it is an absorbent ... so it will absorb the facial oils and thereby control shine. It gives the skin a smooth appearance. Talc is the first component in many, many cosmetics, expensive or inexpensive. If talc is used as per USP then it is safe to use the product. Mary Kay is a well-known name and I am sure they adhere to USDA regulations.
Simonevburden is correct there is no Evidence to prove talc is bad for you. And well stated!
