Is makeup bad for your skin?

i'm 14 and wear makeup in the weekends but i'm not allowed to wear it to school. they say that makeup is bad for your skin i just want to know if it really isIs makeup bad for your skin?
yeah I am an old guy but hey they are right it is you dont need it till you are twenty and dating.

concentrate on school or you could end up in a factory like me ! :-(

In this factory are some Polish girls in their early twenties their skin is pure and unblemished as they have been bought up in a poorer country and cannot have the make up stuff which contains animal rennants harmful to the skin. my 5 nieces use gallons of the stuff and they all now have spots and blemishes so they need more to cover them up, your mam will agree with me show her this message and get her advise on how much to use if you really need to - she really does know what is best.Is makeup bad for your skin?
Well, most people think it is, and yeah it can be if it is used too frequently. As long as you wear it how your supposed to, when its in date, and take it all off at the end of the day, there should be no problem!

Try not to use makeup that will clog up your pores, if you want to anyway, use a face mask to unclog them, and you can use this once weekly or twice weekly depending on how often you use makeup.

I wear a light foundation that doesn't clog pores and i remove all my makeup using wipes and face wash at night time!

Makeup does not always allow the skin to breath, especially heavy foundation.

Being that you are still quite young i would just wear a bit of clear mascara and some nice shiny lip gloss.

Don't start to early. I did and then people got so use to seeing me wearing the makeup that it was hard to go a day with out it.

Also a general rule is the cheaper the makeup, the worse it is for your skin.

I'm guessing at your age you probably can't afford the ';good stuff'; yet. So just wait. Youth is beautiful.
you just have to find a brand that suit your skin. make-up isn't bad as long as it makes you feel good. if you use it to enhance what you already have, then there's nothing wrong with that.

make sure that you remove your make-up thoroughly every time especially before going to sleep to prevent skin problems. yes, makeup is bad for your skin if you don't know how to properly use it.
Make-up does clog up your pores, and can effect your skin type, making it too oily or drying it out etc.

Wearing a little bit on the weekends is fine, even better if the make-up has added moisturisers. Make-up is only usually bad when it's worn too often, not allowing the skin to breathe.
I was never allowed to wear makeup and everyone used to always comment and be amazed at how great my skin was. Now I've started wearing it and I've got so many more pimples and wrinkles and my skin has just gone downhill.

If you do want to wear makeup wear as little as you can, ALWAYS wash it off before going to sleep - maybe get a good face wash. and moisturise!

That way the damage will be minimal
i dont think it is, alot of people say it doesn't give your skin room to breathe, but skin doesn't breathe - how could it? it could clog up your pores but if it does then it's down to the wrong type of foundation and you need to improve your skin routine. overall, i'd say no. i think your school is saying that because alot of girls would come in to school with far too much, very obvious makeup on their face.
I wore makeup and tried many different face products at a young age.. trust me - WRONG move. you're still young and natural skin is always BEST. why not try drinking tomato juice to give you rosy cheeks? or any natural ways to enhance your looks?

Don't get me wrong.. makeup can also help. Like concealer, to cover up your pimples or zits incase one day you suddenly get them. or lip gloss to make you look sparkly and pretty. or blush-on to make you look feminine.

Bottomline.. you are still young so just do light makeup. Take care of your skin so that during those ';special days'; you can feel free to use makeup and look glamorous but still have that flawless skin =)
just don't put on too much make up since you're still young. it's inappropriate and really bad for your skin. just use face powder and lip gloss. you can also dab on a little cheek tint to put that rosy glow on your cheeks. when you have a party to attend to, just put on some light eyeshadow. being natural is beauty.
Well factors play into that like what type of skin you have and what products you use. If you used powder instead of that liquid concealer it is better because liquid concealer usually blocks pores. That's one example. I would consult the beauty person at the store you buy your make up at to get a saying of what makeups do what.

Yes, if you wear too much it can really clog up your pores and start wrinkles at an early age! But you're still soo young at 14, you really don't need make-up, tust me! I'd suggest lip gloss, concealer and maybe mascara MAXIMUM! other than that just eat lots of fruit/veg and your skin will look amazing!
Its true, unfortunately.

it doesn't allow your skin to breathe. so yes, it does clog pores and so on,

best bet is to wipe it off after you had been out, and have facials to exfoliate the skin. or basically just wash your face thoroughly
NO! You need to find a make up that right for your skin! But the best make up is mineral make up! If you dont wear too much and look after your skin . . .by removing the make up then there should be no problem!!

:)
well if you put quite a lot on all the time then it's really bad for your skin but if you just put a small bit on only sometimes then it's not that bad because pores are only blocked from a lot of make up
yeah if you use it everyday without removing it properly, also if you use cheap brands, and liquid foundation.
some make up is bad, but usually the more expensive ones especially la roche posay are actually good for your skin.
Well it can clog your pores leading to spots and blackheads if not washed off properly and it can mess with your skin like some brands make it really dry and some really oily
if used properly and not too much, it is not bad.

also, remember to clean your face afterwards. never go to bed with make-up on.
I think it can clog your pores and may make it too oily or too dry, but other than that I don't see a problem with it.
It can be bad for your skin but it depends on how much makeup you put on and if you clean it off properly
well you should look after your skin.
