Is makeup bad for your skin??

I had a teacher who told me that makeup is good for you because it protects your skin from the elements, but is that true? It sounds strange to me.Is makeup bad for your skin??
there bad for it, they clog your pores. Is makeup bad for your skin??
depends on what kind of makeup
well if its oily makeup yes but if not then prob'ly not. There is a makeup called Bare Minerals which is a natural powder. That kind of makeup isnt bad for your skin.
I WEAR MAKE UP. AS LONG AS YOU TAKE CARE OF YOUR FACE THEN YOU SHOULD BE FINE
depends on what exactly is in the makeup... bare minerals is good for your skin and has spf in it...other makeups have chemicals that are bad for your skin. It is good that they protect from the elements, but they add whole new elements to your skin that are probably worse for you!
I suppose it could act as a barrier to the elements in some respect as the elements are fully reaching your face, also t hides a multitude of sins so that makes it good too.

On the other hand make-up can block your pores if not taken off properly every night which can cause spots which can be bad!
alot of cheap make-up can clog pores and be harmful. less is more. use a natural or organic make-up line.
sme can harm your skin but most doesn,t
Mmm, yea I think you're teacher was looking for an excuse to wear to much. Generally make up prevents your skin from breathing which is bad no matter if it does protect you from the elements. If you wear make-up make sure you wash it off at night. And even if you don't make sure you wash your face every night and use moisturizer, also drink plenty of water to help out your skin.
Good quality non-comodegenic makeup should be ok, but heavy foundations that don't allow the skin to breathe are not good to use daily.

It is not true that makeup protects your skin from the elements, unless it contains antioxidents and sunscreen ingredients. HTH.
yes actually it is true. It does protect your skin from harm-full elements in the air. if you are wearing the right type for your skin.

It's always good practice though to remove makeup before you go to bed and give your face some breathers, your pores also need to breathe, removing makeup at night helps, also you can get pimples it your face can't breathe.
There are a few potential dangers regarding the use of cosmetics. One such danger is the use of old mascara. Some mascaras contain an ingredient that breaks down to produce formaldehyde. The formaldehyde prevents the growth of bacteria. Aged mascara, however, may no longer be producing formaldehyde, allowing bacteria to proliferate. Blindness is one possible result if the bacteria-laden mascara gets into the eye. For this reason, it is often recommended to replace a tube of mascara every few months; opinions among experts vary from between three and six. Moreover, formaldehyde is a powerful preservative that may interfere in the natural cleansing and purging functions of one's eyes and eyelids.

Other dangers include flammable hairspray, sharing cosmetics with others, possibly spreading disease, and the application of cosmetics while driving, among other dangers.

There is a very well-known case of the dangers of cosmetics. Buddy Ebsen was originally cast as the ';Tin Man'; in the The Wizard of Oz. Aluminum dust was used for ';tin'; makeup. As the result of an allergic reaction, he was hospitalized and almost died, and Jack Haley replaced him in the movie, only this time the aluminum dust was added to a paste
It can be both. I always wear makeup with at least an SPF of 15 so that is good because it protects against the sun. But it can clog your pores. You need to always wash your face at night, and look for makeup that says it is noncomedogenic which means it won't clog your pores.
In some ways, yes, it does protect your skin a little bit from the elements. But, at the same time makeup can really get into your pores and in some ways age you.
Most makeup these days have sunscreen or sunblock in them, giving you a little more protection from the cancer-causing ultra-violet rays of the sun. This works all year round, not just in the summer. I'm guessing this is what your teacher was thinking of. But be careful, this doesn't mean you are completely protected from the sun.

I think that most young girls are taught that makeup is bad for their skin because many young girls either put too much on at once, (making them look like clowns) or they don't wash it off completly every night. Both of these can clog your pores and cause major zits. Remember, even if most of the color has worn off, and you can't see any makeup on you...there is still some there, clogging up the pores. No matter how tired you are or how clean your face ';looks';...wash it off before you go to bed to cut down on the number of zits you have to deal with.

Keep in mind also, that some people are allergic to certain ingredients in some kinds of makeup. If you are allergic to anything in the makeup, your skin will break out in pimples, itchy red hives, swell up and peel. You may also find you have trouble breathing. If that happens, wash it off, then call a doctor or go to an emergency room. Make sure you bring the container of makeup with you, so the doctor can give you the right medicines to counteract it.
if you wash your face it is good but if you dont it will just make you break out
Makeup can clog pores so make sure that every night you are washing it off but other than that no makeup is not harmful to your skin. In fact some makeup lines have added minerals and vitamins to actually help your skin. The best thing to do is research the ingredients in you particular brand of makeup and find out what they do and why they are in there. This should ease your mind a bit if you know exactly what your putting on your face.
i've always been told it's bad because it clogs ur pores and make u get pimples and stuff...idk...all my friends who wear make-up mostly have acne, but i don't wear it and i have had 1 zit in like 3 years! so i'm gonna say no, she is wrong...just becuz of my experience with it...i cud be wrong tho! :]]
Obviously in terms of your skin no makeup is better you were born natural and that's how it should stay. But it terms of looks use makeup that is designed to be kinder to you skin than regular stuff there are plenty of products out there that have aloe Vera and tea tree oils and what not in that don't damage your skin. Don't wear too much though because like you mouth your skin needs to breath.
I went to a make-up party and it was a all natural make-up party. The make-up was made from only natural products. They told us that most make-up has mineral oil in it and it is really bad for our skin because it doesn't allow our skin to breath like it needs. They put a saltine cracker in the mineral oil and left it for a few weeks and it made the cracker so hard that it broke. You would think that it would have made the cracker really mushy. I don't think make-up is good for our skin, but I use it anyway. I use Arbonne make-up. It is all natural and it is suppose to be alright for our skin.
umm yeah sweetie that would be true because im taking a college cosmetology class as we speak and it does protect your skin from elements. as long as you wipe it off before you go to sleep. theroy states that if you dont you rage 7 years.
Some makeup brands are bad for skin, because of they add extra ingredients suchs as perfume to powder. I recommend Bare Minerals but it is bit expensive.
it depends on what kind of make up you use. i was at a facial they told me to use mineral make up from glo or jane-iredale. but also clean your skin three to four times a week, clean your make up befor you sleep, scurb died skins out once a week, also use mouseriser befor putting make up on. make gives ur skin a glow which can be good for u.
