Titanium dioxide is in my makeup. How much of this is absorbed into the skin? Is it bad for you?

It is not bad for you. However, you should know that when you are photographed wearing powder or foundation with that mineral included as a sunscreen, it will pick up the light in the flash and it will show up in the developed picture. It looked so odd in photos that were taken of me that I switched to a powder with no sunscreen rather than continuing to look like the bride of frankenstein. See what happens with your photographic experiences.

If it becomes a problem don't stress, there are so many daily moisturizers out there with sunscreen included you really don't need it in your make-up too!Titanium dioxide is in my makeup. How much of this is absorbed into the skin? Is it bad for you?
Not generally, that anyone knows. It is very widely used, often for its bright whiteness.

It is O.K. for the face. It is not as good in your deodorant.
All titanium dioxide is is a lightener. It's a white pigment put in your makeup. When used as a pigment, it is called titanium white, Pigment White 6, or CI 77891. I don't believe it's dangerous. I haven't read anything of the sort on that. It's really just a mineral, so I think you're gonna be ok.
Titanium dioxide is also in sunscreen. It's a physical protector, which means it provides natural protection from the sun. The sun absorbs into your skin, and it's not the best thing, because it can give you wrinkles and possibly skin cancer.

Sun is the number one aging thing we do to our skin.

Titanium dioxide is one the best protectors, found in makeup and sunscreen. It's also good for sensitive skin.

So make sure you have titanium dioxide in your spf of at least 15.

=)
