I've hear talc can clog pores. Mica, as in sericite mica, is a great substitute for Talc in a lot of mineral makeup products. I've never heard of it being bad for your skin.

Just keep in mind the sources you hear that stuff from. If there is no scientific evidence then it may just be ';scare mongering'; of the website author who's trying to convince you to buy their ';healthier'; alternative!

Do more research. A site called cosmeticscops is a good place to start.

If you are looking for a talc free makeup, you might wanna try what I use, the Hollywood mineral makeup from LA Minerals. Is mica and talc in makeup bad?
talc is indeed bad for youre skin. It might cause redness due to clogging of pores on people with more sensitive acne prone skin (like you). I would suggest not to use talc in your make up if it does show signs that you are bothered from it, instead choose mineral make up. Talc is usually found in cheaper make up products as it is a cheaper chemical alternative. However many scientists have developed a replacement and use titanium dioxide and zinc that are inert substances that won't affect the skin negatively, this replaces chemicals like mica as well too.

Mica is a chemical that makes stuff shine, overall you'll be mostly affected if you are allergic to mica. In that case, dont use mica and use bismuth oxides that is a replacement for mica.

Some mineral make-up if you prefer high-end are bare minerals and everyday minerals. Bare minerals contain bismuth oxide, if allergic use everyday minerals they don't contain any bismuth oxide. I also heard everyday minerals have a better selection of tones, which helps asians like myself to match our shade better.

Lower-end products doesn't mean necessarily bad theycan be just as as good. Loreal mineral make-up has really great reviews. I am using it right now and it's pretty good, except for the fact that it doesn't have a wide selection of tones for the skin. Another one is physicians formula with their new talc-free mineral make up, it has positive reviews too. I think the physicians formula has more of a yellow-undertone so it may not match pink undertones as well.

They have probably been using these ingredients for thousands of years. Mica and talc are only bad if you have asthma - because of inhaling the powder.

Aside from all of that- it is better for your skin to wash at least twice a day with warm water and mild soap- rinse rinse rinse- keep your hands away from your face and do not use make up.
