What is so bad about broken/cracked makeup?

What is really so bad about makeup that is broken. Such as eye shadows that have a crack in them. Is it unusable? Explain in detail for 10 points. What is so bad about broken/cracked makeup?
Well, a lot of people, especially people who pay expensive prices for expensive makeup (Such as MAC and other high end things), want them to be in the best condition possible. A lot of women take pride in their collection of makeup, especially if they're a cosmetologist or specialize in that area. Well, hell, even some men are included in that. I know if I had the money, and I bought high end makeup, I would want the best of the best for the money I paid. It's still useable, in my opinon, though. A lot of people tend to swap and sell stuff after they get their use out of it too, and others probably won't buy if its in bad condition. It also depends on how severe the crack is... I had one of my cheap Max Factor eyeshadows that I didn't care much for anyway, completely bust and break open in my makeup bag. I need a new storage container. The max factor eyeshadow had all three colors basically stuck together, so that alone messed it up pretty bad... since the colors were broken and mixing up. So it just depends. What is so bad about broken/cracked makeup?
Nothing is wrong with them. Most people just dont like the fact that once cracked, they tend to break in more tiny pieces, so everytime you open it to use it, bits and pieces fall out and often time end up staining clothes, smearing your carpet or where ever it may be you put your make-up on.
it's usually messy... i always buy em in the sales though XD

if you get a cracked eyeshadows in a week it's all over the place... whenever you open the tub powder goes everywhere! it crumbles so becomes a powder not a compact... so it's harder to put on easily.
I believe when makeup cracks it makes it harder to apply, otherwise it's pefectly fine.
there's nothing wrong with it but most companies just want to have the best experience for the customers.
