a hormone is released that gives you pleasure when you see other human beings(particularly potential rivals) fail or have something bad happen to them.
the same reson why you laugh at funniest home videos. some getting hit in the nuts shouldn't be funny, its just is.lolWhy do people like to laugh at/make fun of other people?example:why do we laugh at someone w/bad makeup/hair?
We laugh, may even cry from laughing is because we see how ridiculous someone is, when they have no clue what is going on.
Might be because we've been there before. You know what I mean, the 'you've got your skirt tucked in your panties' type of experiences. Therefore may feel good to have a laugh at someone who's not you, or may be that we relate to that situation.
However, I hardly ever laugh at those people, so I'm not the 'We' that we're mentioning. I usually go ';oh my god!!'; at a person with bad makeup. Might even tell her.
I think that laughing at other people when they are in an embarrassed situation relieves the pressure off ourselves, to mock other people so 'we' can feel better about ourselves.
This is natural for teenagers, but however if you're an adult and still laughing at other people, I think you need to stop and consider a deeper meaning to your behaviour. Why do people like to laugh at/make fun of other people?example:why do we laugh at someone w/bad makeup/hair?
A lot of people who laugh at that kind of stuff are usually bored or trying to make themselves feel better by putting other people down.
I think it's also how we're raised and what we're used to seeing. If bad makeup/hair was a norm and we were raised on that principle, then we wouldn't be laughing. We'd think it was normal. But people learn through their parents and the media that it's ';peculiar/unconventional'; for an old women to dress in 20 year old clothes. Anyway, that's just how I see it.. hope it made sense :)
Sometimes it's just an natural defense mechanism, or we want to make ourselves feel better about something.
I.E. we're with a group of friends, and we make fun of someone indirectly because we want to compare ourselves to them, and naturally we assume we are better.
Or it is critism, we don't approve of something that might seem right in their view, but not on ours. But seriously, who cares about what other people think about you? Don't think too much into this topic- life is short, live it. America is a free country in terms of culture and perferances, and you should rack up as much as that freedom as possible.
Oh its pretty simple. We as humans think that people who are in a certain age group should act like that age group. Its like a drawing: when u find a hard to notice flaw in it u have to change it to make it perfect. its just cuz we are so used to seeing people act normal that when we see that one person who stands out is when we find it weird and not natural.
i don't!
i am a bahamian... bahamians don't really care... what you look like or anything.. they don't laugh... only if they don't like someone and are trying to be rude!
people tend to laugh at people or make fun of them when they are insecure about themselves and putting down other people is a form of making you feel better about yourself sometimes - or it could just be that it's outside of what you would usually see or expect
Many people laugh at others because they feel bad about their selves. I have found that this is the case a lot. I have personally seen this with a friend of mine. He is quick to laugh at others but in all honesty he has low self esteem.
because we grew up doing it..there is something about us that lets us feel what is right and wrong..but sometimes i just can help it and i laugh at a 70 year old woman with 20 pounds of make up on...i Guess its just human nature.
because most people are judging them ... and sometimes it's just funny and as you not in a mean way.. or it's not what you expected
Because its the way america is,
Its how we were raised, to base things on looks.
Because people are immature, and laughing at someone else helps them not focus on their own personal problems.
I think it's our own personal insecurities. We feel lacking somewhere, so we point out other peoples flaws.
